Friday Night @ Tilda’s continues this week with Spellbinder Orchestra.
March 2 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Spellbinder Orchestra is an intergenerational, bicoastal collective with elements of folk, world, classical and rock. The line-up features ukulele, guitar, cello, and upright bass with intricate arrangements that move from rousing and joyful to thoughtful and dreamy.
Formerly known as Brother Spellbinder, the repertoire grew from Alzara Getz’s voice and songwriting which have been described as poetic and philosophical.
As the daughter of rock drummer Dave Getz, original drummer of Big Brother & The Holding Co. and Nancy Baysinger, one of the first female recording engineers in the San Francisco bay area, Alzara developed an early passion for musical expression.
Cellist Cornelia Logan, a Hudson Valley native, is a former member of the student community orchestra at Bard College and has played with Mamalama and Free River band.
Upright bassist Joe Pierog tours regularly with his other group, The Library Band, and has shared the stage with artists such as B.B. King, Greg Hawkes (of The Cars), and former Tower of Power front man William Edward McGee.
Guitarist Chris O’Driscoll is an experimental electronic solo artist and songwriter known as Minor Planet.
Local singer Christina Florakis will open the evening with acoustic guitar songs in the cafe starting around 7:15.
Spellbinder Orchestra will play from 8:15 onward.
Come early for a delicious dinner at Tilda’s, a local, all ages, family friendly restaurant and community center in Midtown Kingston serving “Community Inspired Global Cuisine”.
